swings & sunshine

Finally, some lovely weather. It truly does feel like Ontario has two extreme seasons: Winter & Summer. But I'm not complaining, bring it on Summer!

My sister, who's 15 years younger than I, slept over this weekend which is always nice. A is beyond fond of her - they're closer in age than her and I are, lol. I conned her to help me clean my closet and of course, all the stuff I didn't want anymore, was hers for the taking, win-win. My closet is literally bursting with apparel, but I always feel like I have nothing to wear, always. #classicgirlproblems

The warmer weather always calls for play time outdoors. I love that Aiden is all about this - I'd much rather him be begging us to ride his bike or play baseball in the front yard than playing video games and or computer games indoors (hopefully it stays this way). Soak up that vitamin D baby! & this is how I remembered my own childhood - I rode that purple bike just about every where and really only came home cause it was getting dark out and well, I was getting dark, lol. We have a wooden swing set in our backyard, but no bucket baby swing (booo) so we took Sadie to the park nearby to have her first time swing experience! She was definitely a little hesitant at first, but love it once she got the hang of it! Obviously don't pay any attention to my voice in the vid and just watch her awesome face.

Baby girl, you crack me up.
& did you see, we have teeth :)

Mama & Sadie

Oh, there's a timer function on my camera? Let me try!
Except for the fact that I'm attempting to grow my eyes brows (don't judge me), why haven't I used the timer function sooner?! Now if I can only get the boys in on this "photo shoot", maybe my wall can stop being so bare!

I always take a bajillion photos. Especially of my babies. Better to have many to choose from rather than none, right? And sometimes, it happens ... you capture the perfect one ....

My cousin noticed that Sade's tiny tongue is shaped like a little heart, it totally is! Haha.

We've had some gorg weather here this weekend. Hoping it holds up forever for the kiddies during March Break this week. Forever would be nice too! Being able to open the windows in our home and let the fresh, crisp air creep through puts me in a fab mood instantly. Can't wait for dresses, shorts & sandals! Any excuse for a new wardrobe, right ;)

Happy Sunny Sunday!

"ma, can we line up for the photo booth please!"

What a busy weekend!
I definitely live for the weekends, but typically for low-key, let's do a whole lot of nothing type of weekends. But nevertheless, the weekend was spent with our friends and family - so it was good one!

A few days ago, I stumbled across this post on Facebook posted by someone I went to high school with, a fellow mama.
As I read, I sobbed ...
Here are some paragraphs that I related to instantly:

Too much of a mama's life goes undocumented and unseen. People, including my children, don't see the way I make sure my kids' favorite stuffed animals are on their beds at night. They don't know how I walk the grocery store aisles looking for treats that will thrill them for a special day. They don't know that I saved their side-snap, paper-thin baby shirts from the hospital where they were born or their little hospital bracelets in keepsake boxes high on the top shelves of their closets. They don't see me tossing and turning in bed wondering if I am doing an okay job as a mother, if they are okay in their schools, where we should take them for a vacation, what we should do for their birthdays. I'm up long past the news on Christmas Eve wrapping presents and eating cookies and milk, and I spend hours hunting the Internet and the local Targets for specially-requested Halloween costumes and birthday presents. They don't see any of that.
I'm everywhere in their young lives, and yet I have very few pictures of me with them. Someday I won't be here -- and I don't know if that someday is tomorrow or thirty or forty or fifty years from now -- but I want them to have pictures of me. I want them to see the way I looked at them, see how much I loved them. I am not perfect to look at and I am not perfect to love, but I am perfectly their mother.
& then, on Friday, at one of my best friend's wedding - where I was a bridesmaid, up at 6am for hair and makeup (after being awake at 3am for a feed), then feeding little Miss Sadie every three hours throughout the day, and where my (wonderful-est, bestest, most patient) husband travelled with both kiddies from the ceremony to the reception while I took photos with the bridal party ...

... this photo happened.
I had just finished nursing Sadie for the umteenth time and Aiden wanted to eat dessert at the head table with me. The MOH saw A and I taking "selfies" with my iPhone and offered to take a photo for us. Of course, I declined the offer at first ... but then gave in and gave her my phone. I was sweating, exhausted and slightly annoyed because it felt like my false lash was falling off. But in the midst of the craziness, to capture a moment like this ... melts my heart. These are the moments that I live for.

You better believe we lined up for the photo booth! It was Aiden's favourite part! Too bad Sadie was a pooper and was sleeping ... LOL.

Happy Long Weekend!

My only plans this weekend are to: go into labour & give birth to a baby.
Crossing my fingers that my plans pull through.

Thanks.

I've also been working on this, that's all.

Lovin' the Weekends!

Although I'm on mat leave and really, everyday is a weekend - the weekends are when I really get to spend time with my favs.

This weekend was no different.
My brother graduated a few weeks ago getting his Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

I couldn't be more proud of him. It's a field that takes passion and discipline and he managed to pull it off in 4 years (something I definitely couldn't do!). I hope that he continues to love what he does and wish him all the success! Welcome to the real world Broski.

We celebrated his graduation today at an AYCE sushi lunch at 168 - always delicious. But of course, nothing raw or with tobiko for me.

So Mom and Dad now have 2 down (the easier two!) & 2 more to go!
It's crazy how far apart in age we are as siblings, yet we still manage to have close relationships, inside jokes, get along pretty well and pretty much can stand each other's company. Aiden and Chelsea are closer in age than Chelsea and myself! Love being able to spend time with my family. & it's an added plus that my Mom and I get along much better now that I've moved out :)

backsplash kind of weekend

It was also a "let's spend money like we have a money tree growing in our backyard" kind of weekend.
(insert sad face).

But - we finally got started on this ...

& after 2 ish days of hard work and labour from Sean and my wonderful (now semi-handy) husband - we're waiting for the grout to dry.

Pretty happy with how it's turned out. Excited to see the final product!
We also paid for our fence this weekend, you know - from our money tree.

Can't believe it's money again, already.
Two more weeks of work left.

cheers to this (long) weekend!

Oh how I love long weekends.

Especially ones where I spend it's entirety with my loves.
& ones where I capture candid moments like this one:

Happy May 24 everyone!

If I could, I would ride my bike until the stars came out

& just like that - we got our Aiden back!

The weather has been beyond glorious the past few days. Hoping that soon, we'll be able to turn the heat off in our home and have the lovely smell of summer breeze through our windows. To much joy, we've been spending as much time as we can outdoors - & A can't get enough of riding his bike. Maybe by the end of this summer he'll able to ride it without his training wheels!
Head outside, and enjoy the sun!

weekend review

Lately, I've been living for my weekends.
The weekend agenda usually consists of: spending max time with A, loads of laundry, cooking breakfast for my boys (since I definitely do not cook on the week days), grocery shopping & well home stuff. & the past weekend was no different. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

I love Sundays.

It's the only day that we get to spend the entire day together - the three of us.
We enjoyed a rather late lunch on Sunday at Jack's ... check out this lovely candid shot of A.

I still can't believe that he turns 4 this year - FOUR. I don't feel like I'm getting much older, but knowing that I'm a mother of a 4 year old, definitely puts things into perspective. Whomp.

Aiden, you are magical. Surely the smartest 4 year old I know. Right now, you are fond of Power Rangers, super heroes and Buddy (your bear). You're also beyond excited to meet your best friend - our baby & you also wish for our baby to be a girl (said that you would be mad if baby was a boy). You love bacon and pancakes in the morning with sliced apples and strawberries, daddy's homemade tomato sauce with pasta for lunch, cheese & crackers as a snack and tacos (with "taco" bread - tortillas) for dinner. & you never say no to milk. You've started to love the shower, instead of "big baths" and you've learnt to say "grace before meals". You dress yourself with "swag" - and from time to time, we catch you checking yourself out in the mirror. You ask A LOT of questions - because you're curious of the world. You also talk A LOT - on your "phone", our home phone & facetime with Lola & Lolo. You smile is contagious & so is your laugh. You have brought so much joy in our lives.
We can't wait for you to to be a big brother.
